Policy in regards to cookies

A cookie is a small text file that stores information for web browsers. Cookies are used to gather and store identifiers and other information on devices such as computers or phones. Other technollogies such as local storage, device identifiers and some software processes have similar purposes. In this policy, we will label “cookies” the entirety of these technologies.

We use cookies when you posses a Jumboo account, when you acces our services via our App or websites, or when you interact with third-party apps and websites with integrated Jumboo features. Cookies help us provide, protect and improve our services.

The following policy decribes the way in which we use cookies and the options you have on the matter. Unless otherwise specified, our privacy policy applies to data we collect through cookies.

1. Why do we use cookies?

Cookies help us offer, protect and improve Jumboo’s services by, among other exemples, customizing the content, measuring ads efficience and by offering a safer experience. We use session cookies (expire when closing the browser) and persistent cookies (that stay until expiration or manual deletion).

Cookies are used to :

  • Authentify your account: Memorize your connexion status and facilitate access to our pages and services.
  • Ensure security and integrity of the service: prevent fraud, detect unauthorized access, recognize trusted devices and apply protection measures.
  • Provide relevant ads and suggestions: display content based on your activity, avoid repetitions and measure campaigns reach.
  • Offer features and services: remember your preferences, customize your experience and facilitate the use of some features (messenger, …).
  • Performance optimization: ajust server load, ajust display according to your device, improve loading times.
  • Usage analytics: understanding the ways users interact with our platform to improve it.

2. Legal basis and compliance (GDPR & CCPA)

European Union (GDPR)

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we use the following legal basis for the use of cookies:

  • Consent: non-essential cookies (ads, analysis) are only used after you gave consent via a pop-up or specific settings.
  • Legitimate interest: Some cookies are strictly necessary to ensure proper workings and security of our platform.

  • Bring a claim to your local data protection authority.

United States (CCPA / CPRA)

For residents of California, we respect the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

  • Enable essential features.

California residents rights :

3. Manage your preferences in regards to cookies

  • Via your browser : most allow you to block or delete cookies. Please note this can affect some of Jumboo’s features.
  • Via your account, you can change your preferences directly from your Jumboo profile or from the Cookies settings page.
  • Opt-out tools : you can unsubscribe from behavioral advertising via platforms including Network Advertising Initiative or YourAdChoices.

4. Third-party cookies

Some third-party services integrated to Jumboo can also place cookies. They can be advertising partners, analytics tools or other social networks. We recommend you read their cookies policy to understand their practices.

5. Policy update

We can update this policy to reflect legal, technological or functional evolutions. Any substantial modification will be notified ahead of time. Date of effect will be mentioned. If necessary we will inform you directly.
